Niche websites get an extra advantage in SERP over generic websites. Basically, the search engine giant wants a better content experience for the users. In this context, Google considers niche sites as experts who can provide better answers to a search query. So it’s always better to focus on a niche than being a jack of all trades master of none.

Primarily, you need to consider these factors while choosing your niche:

1. Identify your interests
2. Evaluate market demand
3. Consider long-term viability

Firstly, you should have a genuine interest in the niche you choose. Personally, I struggle to find motivation while writing on topics that don’t engage my interest.

However, writing only based on your interests won’t be profitable when you are writing professionally. So you must evaluate the market demand as well. 

✅ Get an in-depth knowledge of your niche

This is a step most bloggers don’t give much focus to. But trust me, it’s a big deal nowadays. Even as a reader, I feel when you write content with in-depth knowledge it establishes your authority, trust, and credibility within your audience.

As said before, Google wants experts to answer search queries. And they want informative and fresh content that you can only provide with in-depth knowledge. Therefore plan a learning curve to enrich your knowledge of the niche before starting.

Next up, you need to identify the existing players. Find out which websites are already publishing blogs in your niche. Then study the type of content they produce, the topics they cover, and the style in which they present information.

This can help with search engine optimization (SEO) and make your blog more relevant for better search results. Overall, I prefer going for a name that speaks to my audience and has the potential to turn into a recognizable brand as the blog grows.

I always prefer to plan and schedule blog posts in advance. So I research relevant topics and make a list of the topics that I will cover on my blog site. This helps me to be more focused on content planning, as well as maintaining consistency and diversity.

While listing blog topics, I ensure to list the diverse types of content relevant to my niche to cater to a broader audience. Then to keep consistency, maintain a content calendar. It’s always better to post at a consistent interval than to post randomly.

Keyword research is essential before starting a blog. With keyword research, you can easily understand what your target audience is searching for.

Then choose a reliable hosting provider. While choosing a hosting service, look into factors like server speed, performance, uptime, scalability, and customer support. If you choose WordPress CMS, you can consider WordPress dedicated hosting providers for smooth operations.

For me, the process of launching a blog website becomes easy when I incorporate AI tools in the process. Here is how you can start a blog with AI and improve your efficiency.

👉 Taking help from AI to find the right niche

Niche is the combination of your interest and market trends. Your interest solely depends on you. As per the market trends, use market research tools like Google Trends to get an idea about the recent trends around the globe.

To take this process to the next level, you can make use of artificial intelligence technology. For the starter, you can use tools like ChatGPT to generate a list of potential blog niches based on your interests. 

For example, I have used the following prompt to choose my niche, related to fitness.

👉 Generating domain name suggestions

These days finding a domain name that is relevant, simple, as well as catchy is quite hard. AI can effectively help you find unique yet catchy and relevant domain names.

Many domain services now provide AI-powered domain name suggestions. For example, Hostinger lets the users Generate Domain Using AI. While using this feature, I entered a short description of the niche I have selected. And it provided quite useful domain name suggestions.

Besides, free AI tools like ChatGPT and Bing AI can provide suggestions for your next website’s domain name.

👉 Using AI’s vast database for topic research

After that, you need to conduct a thorough topic research for your blog site. For that, you’ll need to brainstorm with a vast amount of information. This is where AI can be quite useful.

Since you will need the latest data for topic research, you can use ChatGPT Plus and Microsoft Copilot (aka Bing AI). Though both use the same language model (GPT-4), ChatGPT Plus is behind the playwall. While Microsoft Copilot is free for Microsoft account users.

However, I find GetGenie’s “Related Topics” template quite handy. It doesn’t require any complex prompt entry. You just need to put your niche in the input field and it will provide a list of topics for your website.

Now you can make a list of these topics and pick any topic to start writing a new blog post.

👉 Finding relevant keywords and search trends

AI technology goes as far as conducting keyword research for your blog. For example, when I use GetGenie AI’s SEO features, it makes the keyword research process much easier for me.

Just open the Blog Wizard template, enter a topic, enable the SEO mode, and click on “Analyze Keyword”. And you’ll have the entire keyword data before your screen. Now from the related keyword section, you can find the keywords that you can cover in your blog.

Let me tell you a hack here. Use the “Related Keyword” suggestions as your blog post topics. As these keywords have a good search volume, writing individual blog posts can give you a higher chance of ranking in SERP.
